SEO Tools - Beginners SEO Tutorial Course - part 3, If you want to make money online or if you want to survive as an online business, you will find that the traffic from the search engines is not something that you can do without! When you take into account the fact that almost 90% of all purchases made online are made directly through the use of a search engine, you can easily see that ignoring the use of good SEO tools can be detrimental to your online presence. Tools for search engine optimization are extremely important for online businesses and if you have any doubts, read on!

Search engines are very sophisticated. Not so long ago, you could bring a great deal of traffic to your website simply by putting long lists of keywords into your web page. Today, tactics like this are not only considered unethical, they are pathetically easy to see through.

A search engine will look for relevance on your site before directing people there and if it does not find it, you can bet that you will be relegated to the third or fourth page of results. The algorithms used to figure out what websites fit the query take many different things into account, and you can use SEO tools to help you figure this out.

How popular do you think you are? One thing that search engines will do is take a look at how valuable other websites are that back link to yours. It does this by figuring out how many other sites have linked to yours without you reciprocating.

This allows the search engine to weigh how important you are, and you can bet that if you do not put some work into this that you will get left behind. When you start looking for SEO tools, make sure that you find ones that will allow you to keep track of your own relevance and importance in this fashion.

There are plenty of different things that you can use to bring people to your site and chances are, people have gotten there first. Keyword stuffing, bad press and link spamming are all things that people will do to try to bring others to their site via the search engines.

Although you might see a momentary perk in traffic, these attempts indeed tend to fail. The search engines are sophisticated and nothing short of targeted, sharp content and ethical methods is going to bring you the results you need.

What do SEO tools do? Most simply, SEO tools bring you the traffic that you need. You will find that these tools are quite varied and will do things ranging from helping you figure out what keywords are the most relevant to you, what keywords are most searched and how many other sites will link to you.

These tools are quite important, both in terms of what they do and also the results that they get. SEO tools are things that you need to learn how to use. And when you do so, you will find a sharp and steady rise in both traffic and profit!

  13. Anonymous says:

Take a look at the source for info.

  14. Leon B says:

This is done by using a .htaccess file, and works fine with GoDaddy.
Let me show you how I did this for my own website.

You need to choose whether your site should appear with the www or without it after the page loads. I suggest having it appear WITH the www

Create a file called .htaccess (Note- nothing goes before the .) You can do this in Notepad. Insert the following lines:

    RewriteEngine on
    #
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www.yourdomain.com
    RewriteRule (.*) http://www.yourdomain.com/$1 [R=301,L]

The only thing you should change is replace yourdomain with what your domain really is. Also, replace com with org or whatever if your domain is not a .com.

This will result in a page requested as yourdomain.com returning a 301 message to the browser (and Googlebot) saying the page has permanently moved and the correct page name is http://www.yourdomain.com

This is exactly what you want. Upload the file to your server root, and you're done.

IMPORTANT: If you make any mistakes in this file, be aware that it will mess up the server, which will not deliver any pages at all until you either delete the .htaccess file or fix it.

By the way, in Google Webmaster Tools, make sure you specify the same preference- that you want the http://www.

    Hi Dana,

These days there are some good free search engine optimization tools available that will get the job done sufficiently; however in certain circumstances, you need the extra edge of a paid service, Here are my favorite paid and free in each category:

    Keyphrase Research:
    Paid: http://www.WordTracker.com
Free: Google Keyword Suggestion Tool, Google Insights, SEO Book

    Analytics:
    Paid: ClickTracks
    Free: GoogleAnalytics

    LinkBuilding:
    Free: Valid Rank
Paid: (I won't use a paid Link Building tool anymore–most are garbage.)

    Competition:
    Free: Alexa
    Free with fee-based upgrade: Compete

    Good luck!

    Jennifer

  20. I use the free edition of Rank Tracker and it's really helpful:
    http://www.link-assistant.com/rank-tracker/

You can choose to track your ranking score in Google, Yahoo, Bing, Aol, Ask.com, Altavista, Excite, Lycos etc. and also in their local sites for the different countries in the world

There is no limit for the number of keywords you will track

You get a report based on the results. The only thing about the free version is that you cannot save the report or copy the results, it works fine for information and that's all I need

  21. ellathinks says:

    Hello Friend

there are of course various tools you can use to market your product. You can blog or do seo to get to the top of search engines.

You can even use affiliate marketing or Traffic exchange strategies to promote your product. Now a days people do prefer Pay Per Click advertising which is very often referred to as PPC.

These methods are more elaborately explained on my blog. If you do not mind you can read my blog from the source below.

    Enjoy!

  22. Vitaly says:

It's depends on your need and how much you can paid most of them provide some basic information but you should pay for the extra information you will get through these tools check out free version and see given option are of your use or not.

  23. Sandra says:

Yes, they will save you a TON of time and make you more efficient. I have done most everything manually for years (keyword ranking checking, creating custom metrics in my analytics, tracking leads/conversions etc.). I started using some free SEO tools and they definitely helped, but the problem I ran into is that I was using about 5-10 tools. This was faster than doing it manually, but still not completely effective. Now I use RhinoSEO which have everything I need in one system, saves me literally HOURS of time. Keep in mind that you get what you pay for and free tools can have their limitations. The tool is not free, but there is a free trial. http://www.rhinoseo.com/register-free-trial

    Hope this helps!

  24. sassie k says:

There are many but nothing is automated.
They suggest based on how they are programmed by their companies.
You have to implement those suggestions.

search engines run on set of algorithms which change regularly to beat the growing spam. So these so called SEO softwares require changes to achieve the best possible rankings.

Also, seo is not just do this and do that, it requires strategy too.

    Hope that helps

    Cheers

  25. prashant k says:

Google keyword tool is awesome. Keep in mind it will give you returns on content as well as searches. Meaning the numbers are always higher than what they are and they run across all the Google partners.

If you want a simple but accurate numbers (daily numbers not monthly) I recommend word tracker.
    Both links are below:
I also recommend Kortia seo tools.

  26. Tomas P says:

There are so many tools. Tools for tracking keywords, looking at pagerank, server checks, duplicated content and so on. There is no one tool for SEO. If you're looking for some magic tool to SEO your site, it doesn't exist.

  27. thewebguru says:

forums and other sites like stumble are very good. Also try link building. By the way sites like http://www.night-directory.com/ also help because a lot of people who visit these sites know about seo and are interested in it.

    Good Luck!

  28. rayatcal says:

I use IBP (iBusiness Promotor) software, which reports detailed on about 50 SEO aspects of your website, some crucial, some are less important. This tool will also help you submit your site, get you back links etc. Its not free but there's a free trial

  29. itexpert says:

What exactly are you hoping to achieve?

I'd say off the top of my head - Google Webmaster Tools - http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools

  30. Vanessa says:

I think Alexa is the Closest thing to what you are looking for but not all sites are included in it

    http://www.letblog.com

  31. A few hundered dollars will be hard to do, since most of the really good tools out there will eat up your budget. For some BI check out a product called "ranking manager" and check out "compete.com" . KeywordDiscovery is a good tool, but costs a lot. A good way to learn about keywords is to run a small PPC campaign and use direct words "ohio vacations" instead of ohio vacations which will display ads even if someone searches "vacations out of ohio". This will give you an idea of what terms are searched most on google, as the impression count will show you how many searches there were.

Good luck…lots of reading is a head of you.

  32. kasoker says:

The following site does that.It has done for me.i got good results so far.http://tsigabqi.googlepages.com/

  33. saravanan bk says:

You should be using some other type of statistical program rather than alexa.com / compete.com for ALL of your sites. Alexa and Compete are not current, by the time you see any significant change you are too late to react.

Alexa especially is well known for it's inaccuracy all together.

Analytics is pretty good and free, you put a small Java code in the bottom of your pages and it tracks a great deal of data directly from the page. If you are using Adsense you can also configure it to help track your campaigns and goals.

I use most of the tools listed on that page.

  35. AugustWind says:

If I'm understanding you correctly, you want to basically create your own social bookmarking service as a way of getting free links for your client?

In theory, this could be an effective SEO tactic. It's not much different from people who make free WordPress templates that include a link to their page at the bottom ("Designed by Tom @ http://www.somesite.com").

However, I don't think this will work very well for you because, to be honest, the social bookmarking "industry" is pretty saturated. Why are people going to suddenly start using your service when there are more established services like Digg, Del.icio.us, Reddit, Netscape, etc. out there already?

The idea of providing people with a free tool that will link back to your client is not necessarily a bad idea, I just don't think creating a new social bookmarking service is the way to do it.

  37. In my opinion, the best SEO tool is your brain. No automated tool can do the job as well, but there is a learning curve involved. The source link is to a blog post of mine about the topic.

Some of the basics: pick a keyword and put that keyword into the title tag of your page and the h1 tag of your page. Make the page relevant to the keyword.

When picking a keyword, don't go for the super high traffic ones…those are also the ones that have a lot of competition. Look for lower traffic and lower competition keywords that more closely match what your page is about.

    Good luck!
